Universities, Technological innovation and Deeptech - White book

The project commissioned by the Deeptech directorate at Bpifrance and Bpifrance Le Lab made it possible to deliver a White Book and several tools for strategy making in relations with technological and deeptech-related innovation in deeptechs. These elements are described on the specific page dedicated to the project.

Bpifrance decided to organize a webinar to launch the White Book on Feb 24th, 2021 (on Livestorm).
The White book will be available from the newPIC chair website and from Bpifrance at the beginning of the webinar.

Forthcoming book on Open labs and innovation research (Routledge)

Valerie Merindol and David W Versailles have signed a contract with Routledge to promote the different research results and field research activities associated with the projects commissioned by Bpifrance, Bpifrance Le Lab, Bpifrance Le Hub, and Innovation Factory to the newPIC chair over the recent years, and similar projects operated by our colleagues and friends at MOSAIC research center (HEC Montréal). The book will cover 11 chapters, with a forward by Mrs Elise TISSIER (Director, Bpifrance Le Lab) and an afterword by Mr Michel IDA (who has 20y experience with running such projects for the French governmental research institution CEA TECH).

The book is supposed to be available in Feb. 2022.
We will run an online seminar with the authors on March 10+11, 2021 to discuss all contributions.

EURAM 2021 annual conference - SIG Inno and ST 06-03 on digital innovation

As the topic of the standing track on digital innovation is still an "hot topic" at the EURAM conference, we have decided to promote the track for another year at the EURAM annual conference. The deadline for submissions is set for the end of Jan. 2021, and EURAM executive committee is adapting the differnet deadlines to the evolution of the pandemic. The conference was supposed to take place in Montreal, Canada, but the organizers already decided to move it online because of travel restrictions.

CfP / EJIM : Innovation management in healthcare. Where are we going?

Francesco Schiavone, David W. Versailles, Valerie Merindol and Uta Wilkens guest edit a special issue on innovation management in healthcare for the European Journal of Innovation Management. The deadline for (full) paper submissions was initially on 31-DEC-2020. It is now extended to 28-FEB-2021.

At the end of the review process, the guest-editors will organize a special event to further discuss the papers with all authors part of the review process in the spcial issue.

Progressive transformation of this website with responsive code

Starting in October 2020, we initiate a progressive transformation of the website and start to generalize the use of responsive code. You need to be patient. There are lots of pages, and we decied to simplify the menus at the same time. The evolution will take several months, and we expect to transform the pages as soon as we launch new pages or when we update the pages describing existing activities.


CfP / AEI Annual 2021 conference
Track on New forms of incubation and acceleration for innovative startups

We have launched a call for papers and a special track for the AEI 2021 annual conference (Académie de l'entrepreneuriat et de l'innovation). We are currently working with journals to bridge this CfP this special issue with a special issue in a journal. We will keep you posted about these aspects very soon.

The deadline for submissions is 15-FEB-2021. Papers are accepted in French and in English for our track.
Beware that the conference was supposed to take place in Oct. 2021 in Sousse, Tunisia, but organizers decided to move the conference online because of the pandemic.

EURAM 2020 conference - SIG Innovation and ST 06-03 on digital innovation

Due to the pandemic, the EURAM annual conference has moved online and will take place in Dec 2020.

After 40 submission in track 06-03, we currently have 20 registered articles for the conference. Follow the links for more details about track 06-03.

New research project with Bpifrance Deeptech Directorate

Bpifrance is commissioning a research project on the generalization of innovation platforms inside universities, to foster technological and deeptech-related innovation.

The project will develop as a co-construction research with 3 French universities (Bordeaux, Grenoble, Cergy Pontoise). The kick-off meeting took place in Fall 2019. Deliverables are expected at the end of Fall 2020, with public release of the documents in early 2021.

Restitution seminar: innovation intermediaries in the healthcare sector

In partnership with Bpifrance, Genopole has commissioned a research report on new managerial tasks and new modalities for innovation intermediaries in the healthcare sector.

For the release of the report, we organize a restitution on October 9th (14h00) at Village by CA facilities (Paris 75008) with interactions with executives from Genopole Biovalley France, and Wilco.

Standing track ST 06-03 at EURAM 2020

After the success of our track at EURAM 2018 and 2019, we are in charge of Standing track nb. 06-03 on Digital Innovation for EURAM 2020 conference, to be held in Dublin (Ireland). We have expanded the content of the call to cover the analysis of innovation ecosystems.

EURAM is the European Academy of Management, created in 2020.

Special issue on "Micro-foundations of Dynamic Capabilities"
now available in Management International, vol 23(4)

The special issue organized after the AIMS conference organized in March 2016 on PSB premices is now available. It was published on Aug. 31st, 2019, in volume 23 nb.4 of the Montreal based journal Management International. In this issue: an introduction by the guest-editors, a position paper, 5 reserch papers, and a critical review note.

New research project commissioned by Bpifrance office in charge of Deep Techs

Bpifrance office in charge of deep techs commissions an action-research mission about the installation of academic innovation platforms focused on the valorisation of deep-techs, in relation with the "third" mission of universities.

The project is supervised by Bpifrance Le Lab. Execution is scheduled between Sept 2019 and Sept 2020.

Press conference: publication of newPIC 2019 research report on innovation platforms

Bpifrance Le Lab and Innovation Factory have commissioned this year a research report on the comparison between the dynamics around Innovation platforms and corporate labs in continental France and in Asia.

A press conference has been organized for the release of the report, to take place on June 14th (08h30) in the coworking space located in Innovation Factory (Paris 75013).

EURAM 2018 annual conference (Reykjavik): Outcomes of the submission process

28 papers have been submitted to our track 06-08 on Digital innovation: strategies, competencies, theories and practice that is part of SIG 06 on Innovation. We are glad to tell that the review process is now completed and that the acceptance of papers will be issued by March 22nd. The elaboration of the conference schedule will start very soon.

Some papers consistent with our call for papers for the Journal of Knowledge management will be now invited to submit to JKM. Specific data will be posted soon about this thematic issue.

We are sorry to inform that the track on Agility, Dynamic Capabilities and Technological change that was a joint initiative by the newPIC chair and UOC KiMO research group, did not receive enough papers to proceed further in the conference. Submissions accepted for the conference will be now merged with other track proposals.

Innovation platforms in Paris and Ile de France

Workshop about research results, as a follow-up to the research project commissioned in 2016-2017 by Bpifrance Le Hub, Innovation factory and Paris&Co

The workshop will take place on Oct 19th, 2017, from 13h45 onwards, on PSB premises. Managers currently running Electrolab, Liberté Living Lab and Digital Village will share returns on experience. Valerie Merindol and David W. Versailles will report about research results on the management of communities and the evolution of business models in innovation platforms and open labs.
